Canon has today announced two new EF lenses; the 24 - 105 mm F4.0L IS USM and the 70 - 300 mm F4.0 - F5.6 IS USM. i have a canon 24-70 f2.8 II, it is a superb lens--very versatile end high IQ lens. it is as good as my "L" primes in that range. so i don't see any harm in getting a 24-70 f2.8 II while you can use it on both your dslr and R5 with no issue. if you plan to get a 24-70 f2.8 II, i'd pass on getting 24-105 f4.0, especially if you plan to get a Ergonomics. The Canon 24-105mm F/4 L IS is a medium sized lens that extends out a decent amount while zooming in and out. The Sigma 24-105mm F4 is designed to be used on full frame cameras, on which it offers an extremely useful wideangle to short telephoto zoom range. It's a pretty impressive performer too, producing excellent sharpness right across the frame wide open at all focal lengths. Cwzk.
